Fall is approaching fast. Are you and your home ready?
This past weekend reminds me of why I love the San Francisco Bay Area. The weather was very warm and great to be outside. We had family members in town throughout the weekend from Utah, Colorado, and Alaska. The reason was a family get together to show off my sister-in-laws 6 month old daughter that lives in Alaska. On Friday we spent part of the day at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco, big BBQ in the backyard on Saturday and going to a San Francisco Giants game on Sunday.
As we finished up the weekend, Tuesday brought in the fall weather. The wind was blowing, the leaves were falling from the trees and it reminds us to prepare for the fall. Here are a few tips that I do to prepare for the fall season around the home. I hope you find these helpful for your home as well.
•1. Sprinkler systems: days are shorter, think about cutting back on your watering time for the lawns and garden. Don't stop the watering but it's a good to reduce the amount of watering time.
•2. Raingutters: Throughout the fall, tree leaves are flying and tend to clog the drains and down spouts. Check to see if they are clear.
•3. Heater: There may be a few cold days coming up. Check to see if you air filter is clean. If not clean or change it out.
•4. Weather proofing: now is a good time to check to see if things a sealed properly. Check doors and windows.
•5. Take a look at your roof. Are there any shingles missing? Are your shingles cracking or curling up. If your roof looks questionable now is the time to take a closer look or have a roof inspection. Roofs never leak when is not raining. Check it out before the rains start.
•6. Exterior paint. Any areas peeling or cracking? Prepare the area and spot paint the area to help minimize weather damage before the rainy season starts.
Again I hope you find these tips helpful. If you have other tips that help you prepare for the fall season please forward them. I would love to hear other tips.
Have a Great DAY!
